One of my favourite xkcd comics is So it has come to this – a phrase which, we are told, "creates instant dramatic tension and is a valid observation in literally any situation".
My brother's friend recently said something similar about the meme phrase "X? In this economy?" – as seen here (live, laugh, AND love? in this economy?) or here (Serotonin? In this economy?)
The more absurd the usage, the more I enjoy it, like a comment on this video from the Orleans Masters badminton final between Pink Opatniputh and Nozomi Okuhara: "A high serve? In this economy?"
For context, Okuhara and many other players generally serve short, as seen at 6:51 of this highlights reel. But Opatniputh often serves high and long – even in this economy.
